Medical Terrorism At Gitmo
`
`
Friday, February 24, 2006
Reuters [1]
Experts see medical ethics vio-
lations at Guantanamo
`
"Doctors and psychologists at
the U.S. military prison in
Guantanamo Bay are taking part
in practices...that violate
medical ethics, say ethicists
and medical associations."
`
"U.S. professional medical as-
sociations have been slow to
take a position on the ethics
of such practices as force
feeding and coercive interro-
gations but that is now chang-
ing."
`
Slow?
`
`
Here's the text of my March
12, 2003 "The Superpower's
Medical Terrorism" essay
[2]:
`
{start}
`
Under the March 6th [2003]
headline
`
Guantanamo Facility To Open
Mental Ward For Prisoners
`
Associated Press reports:
`
The psychiatric wing of about
35 cells will open this month
with a staff of psychiatrists,
psychologists and nurses....
`
Patients will be held in [8-
foot-by-7-foot] individual
cells, but some cells will be
twice as large to allow treat-
ment and counseling, and some
prisoners will be shackled....
`
`
Below I present excerpts, for-
matted for readability, from
the Statement by
`
LEO ALEXANDER, MD
`
published in the 1949 book
`
DOCTORS OF INFAMY: the Story
of the Nazi Medical Crimes
`
`
Here's Dr Alexander's prelim-
inary remarks:
`
`
In the Summer of 1945, as an
officer in the United State
Army, it became my duty to in-
vestigate medical and research
activities carried out in Ge-
rmany during the war, particu-
larly in the field of diseases
of the nervous system and in
related fields of physiology.
`
I examined many documents, re-
cords and reports.
`
I saw the concentration camps
with their dispensaries and
laboratories.
`
I interrogated surviving wit-
nesses, culprits and others.
`
I embodied my findings in a
number of official reports
and [in] contributions to
scientific journals.
`
In 1946 I returned to Nurem-
berg as a Consultant to the
Secretary of War, on duty with
the Office of the Chief of
Counsel for War Crimes.  I
served into the following year
and had a chance to acquaint
myself still more thoroughly
with the subject matter of
this book [= DOCTORS OF IN-
FAMY].
`
I can therefore vouch for the
authenticity of the documents
it includes and for the truth
and accuracy of virtually all
the statements made.
`
`
Now Dr Alexander gets down to
the substance of the matter:
`
`
Science under dictatorship
becomes subordinated to the
guiding philosophy of the
dictatorship.
`
"Rational utility" and cor-
responding doctrine and plan-
ning replace moral, ethical,
and religious values.
`
Nazi propaganda was highly
effective in perverting public
opinion and public conscience
in a remarkably short time.
In the medical profession this
expressed itself in a rapid
decline in standards of pro-
fessional ethics.
`
****
`
The experiments performed in
concentration camps
represented not merely a ruth-
less and callous pursuit of
legitimate scientific goals.
`
An important feature is that
they were motivated by sini-
ster, practical, ulterior pol-
itical and personal purposes,
arising out of the require-
ments and problems in the ad-
ministration of totalitarian
rule.
`
****
`
These cases [of careerism]
illustrate an important ele-
ment of motivation, familiar
in ordinary crime and apply-
ing equally to war crimes and
crimes against humanity.
`
Fear and cowardice --especi-
ally fear of punishment or
ostracism by the group-- are
often more important motives
than simple ferocity or ag-
gressiveness.
`
The archcrime to which the SS
was committed was the genocide
of non-German peoples and the
elimination by killing, in
groups or singly, of Germans
who were considered useless or
disloyal.
`
In effecting this twofold pro-
gram Himmler demanded and re-
ceived the cooperation of phy-
sicians and of German medical
science.
`
I have proposed the term
"ktenology," the science of
killing, for this trend of
Nazi research.
`
In the course of ktenological
research, methods of mass kil-
ling and mass sterilization
were investigated and develop-
ed, as well as
`
methods for rapid and incon-
spicuous individual execution.
`
****
`
The triumph along this line --
a method that would produce
autopsy findings indicative of
death from natural causes--
was the development of intra-
venous injectionss of a
suspension of live tubercle
bacilli, which brought on
acute miliary tuberculosis
within a few weeks.
`
As a means of further camou-
flage, so that the SS at large
would not suspect the purpose
of these experiments, prelim-
inary tests on the efficacy of
this method were performed ex-
clusively on children at the
Neuengamme concentration camp.
`
****
`
Whatever methods he used, the
physician gradually became the
unofficial executioner, for
the sake of convenience, infor-
mality, and relative secrecy.
`
Medical science has always been
an instrument of military pow-
er, in that it preserves the
health and fighting efficiency
of troops.  This essentially
defensive purpose is not in-
consistent with the ethical
principles of medicine.
`
As long ago as the first
World War, however, the German
empire enlisted medical sci-
ence as an instrument of ag-
gressive military power by
putting it to use in the
development of gas warfare.
`
It was left to the Nazi dicta-
torship to make medical science
into an instrument of political
power, a formidable, essential
tool in the complete and effec-
tive manipulation of totalitar-
ian control.
`
This should be a warning to all
civilized nations, and particu-
larly to those individuals who
are blinded by the "efficiency"
of totalitarian government,
`
UNDER WHATEVER NAME.
`
`
`
*Doctors of Infamy* was pub-
lished by Henry Schuman Inc.
The above excerpts are at
pages xxix, xxx, xxxi, xxxiii
and xxxiv in the front matter
of the book.
`
{end}
`
`
You of course took special
notice of--
`
Fear and cowardice --especi-
ally fear of punishment or
ostracism by the group-- are
often more important motives
than simple ferocity or ag-
gressiveness.
`
`
From the Reuters newsstory:
`
"Steven Miles of the Universi-
ty of Minnesota's Center for
Bioethics said medical organi-
zations had been reluctant to
speak out for fear of aliena-
ting politicians whose support
they need on issues such as
malpractice reform, but the
flow of news from Guantanamo
had forced their hand.
`
"'There's enough smoke now to
suggest that bad things are
happening,' he said."
`
Now?

`
Writing about World War 1 --the
so-called Great War-- Winston
Churchill detailed what "is re-
quired for the composition of a
great commander" [1]:
`
"not only massive common sense
and reasoning power,

not only imagination,
`
but also an element of legerde-
main, an original and sinister
touch, which leaves the enemy
puzzled as well as beaten."
`
`
Abramoff's not a great comman-
der, but a February 23d Boston
Globe newsstory [2] indicates
he may have served a leader
whose legerdemain resulted in
a major military defeat for
The Superpower on September
11, 2001.
`
"A subpoena in the case,...says
the US government is seeking
information on Abramoff-related
activities with 'any depart-
ment, ministry, or office hold-
er or agent of the Russian gov-
ernment.'"
`
"The subpoena seeks information
about ties between Abramoff-re-
lated groups and a Moscow ener-
gy giant that is called Nafta-
sib, a major supplier to the
Russian military."
`
"Senior Naftasib executives
helped arrange a trip Abramoff
took to Moscow in 1997 with...
Tom DeLay, a longtime Abramoff
friend."
`
1997?  That's b-e-f-o-r-e 2001.
`
"...a key connection between
Abramoff and Russia is an ob-
scure Dutch firm called Voor
Huisen.

"Voor Huisen was one of Abram-
off's biggest clients, paying
$2.1 million in lobbying fees
to Abramoff and his partners
from 2001 to 2004....
`
"...there has been no explana-
tion as to why the company had
paid such large fees...."
`
"...several of Abramoff's form-
er partners...said...they were
told the Dutch company was con-
nected to Naftasib executives."
`
"...reports that Abramoff filed
said he lobbied for Voor Huisen
on matters ranging
`
from aviation safety [!]
`
to disaster preparedness [!!]
`
to unspecified issues 'pertain-
ing to defense and security.'
[!!!]."
`
"In addition to being a lobby-
ist, Abramoff registered in
1999 as a foreign agent."
`
1999?  That's b-e-f-o-r-e 2001.
`
`
From my 2002 essay "There's
Always A Way" [3]:
`
[Russia] showed the 911 heroes
exactly how it could be done;
and coughed up the green to get
it done.
`
Since Russia has enough nukes
to blow up the world, the Wash-
ington cowards decided to blame
it on "bin Laden."

Mosque Bombing an 'Evil Act,' Bush
Says
`
"...speaking at a political fund-
raiser in Indiana, Bush at first
appeared to blame al-Qaida for the
bombing, and then emphasized that
it is unknown who was responsible.

"'You want to know how tough al-
Qaida is, just look at _ we don't

`
The Liar finally gave up on his
"al-Qaida" BS.  Gee, wow.
`
So The Liar replaced one lie with
another: the cowardly "we don't
know" lie.
`
Don't worry, The Superpower knows
the Shi'i mosque bombing --in a
Sunni area north of Baghdad-- is
a well-planned followup to Iran's
earlier declaration of war.
`
Earlier declaration of war?
`
`
Excerpts from Part 1 [2]--
`

Reuters
Iran calls on UK troops to pull
out of Basra
`
Reuters quotes Manouchehr Mot-
taki, the foreign minister of
Iran:
`
"The Islamic Republic of Iran
demands the immediate withdrawal
of British forces from Basra."
`
Basra's in a narrow strip of
Iraq --squeezed between Iran and
Kuwait-- that reaches the Per-
sian Gulf.
`
`
OK, back to Iran's followup.
`
From Iraqi Resistance Report for
events of Wednesday, 22 February
2006 [3]:
`
"The Foreign Relations Department
of the Iraq Regional Command of
the Arab Baath Socialist Party
issued a statement on Wednesday
denouncing the criminal attack on
the tomb of the Imam 'Ali al-Hadi
and saying that the pro-Iranian
Badr Brigades and the US were be-
hind the attack."
`
[Don't confuse Badr with Sadr.
`
The Brigades (or Corps) are the
military arm of the Supreme Coun-
cil for the Islamic Revolution in
Iraq (SCIRI) headquartered in, not
Iraq, but in Teheran, the capital
of Iran.
`
The Brigades fought alongside The
Superpower troops invading Iraq.
`
Baath --notice, two "a"s-- means
resurrection (of independence).]
`
"The Baath Party statement ex-
plained:
`
"The systematic escalation of
differences between America and
Iran have found their main poli-
tical arena to be Iraq, because
the most important group of agents
of Iran are there;
`
they are in power [= the puppet
government set up by The Super-
power] and are able thereby to use
the blood of Iraqis...to exert
pressure on America.
`
"Iran has laid out a plan to em-
broil America in the Iraqi morass
to prevent it from obstructing
Iran’s nuclear plans.
`
"Particularly since America is
eager to move on to completing
arrangements for a withdrawal
from Iraq, a part of which is the
signing of binding agreements on
oil and strategy.
`
"America believes that without
the participation of 'Sunni’
parties in the regime those ar-
rangements will fail.
`
"For that reason cutting Iran’s
claws has become one of the im-
portant requirements for the
American arrangements.
`
"This is a necessity that the
American [ambassador] Zalmay
[Khalilzad] openly spoke of re-
cently when he declared that no
sectarian would take control of
the Ministries of the Interior
or Defense in the new Iraqi
puppet 'government’.
`
"Similarly, America has begun to
publish information that it
formerly kept hidden regarding
the crimes of the Badr Brigade
and the 'Interior Ministry.’
`
"It is therefore in Iran’s in-
terest to attack holy Shi'i
Islamic tombs now because it
seeks to rally the people of
southern Iraq behind the Iranian
position [in Iraq] and in defense
of Iran through increased pres-
sure on America in Iraq.
`
"This is a difficult task for
them since the vast majority of
the people of southern Iraq know
that Iran is planning to destroy
Iraq and partition it, annexing
southern Iraq to itself under
the so-called 'federation’
scheme of 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Hakim
[the leader of SCIRI].
`
"Therefore, they [= Iran's agents]
have sensed an urgent need to re-
gain some unity around their posi-
tion among the southern Iraqi
people, so as to subordinate them
to Iran.
`
"For this they required a crime
the likes of which has not been
committed before – namely an at-
tack on a holy tomb in an area
that is not predominantly Shi'i so
that it could be blamed on the
Sunnis, and be used to promote the
rapid spread of the wildfire of
sectarian strife, in order to
guarantee Iran sufficient forces
to keep America embroiled in Iraq
and to reduce American pressure on
Tehran.
`
"This would also achieve one of the
most important and oldest American
goals in Iraq, namely splitting up
the country."
`
`
In other words, Iran's pressure on
The Superpower includes candy to
make that pressure palatable...
`
That candy is what motivated The
Liar's cowardly "we don't know"
lie.
`
`
There's more.
`
"...the criminal attack on the
tomb of the Imam 'Ali al-Hadi
was carried out by the agents of
Iran, supported by American in-
terests, which consist in com-
pelling 'Sunni’ groups to take
part in their political opera-
tion.
`
"They [= the American interests]
hope to reach this goal more
speedily by putting more pressure
on known Sunni groups by igniting
a limited sectarian war."
`
A limited sectarian war?
`
That notion is what motivated
polished Rice to warn "against
characterizing the rising turmoil
as a harbinger of civil war" [in
AP's Mosque Bombing story].
`
`
You now may wonder who's beating
whom in that already-declared
`
IRAN - SUPERPOWER WAR.

So much so it surprised AP.  The

exercise to test how it would re-

occupation troops raided Internet
cafés in ‘Amiriyat al-Fallujah,

`
The al-Fallujah correspondent for
Mafkarat al-Islam reported owners
of Internet cafés as saying that
US force[s] stormed into their

(the owners).
`
They searched the computers in
great detail and then told the
owners “You are sending out news
of strikes directed by ‘terror-

The Americans then smashed the
